MAC Casual Colour Collection Lip and Cheek Colour Pots

I'm not very in the know about MAC's collections, only if I happen to walk by and spot a stand. A friend of mine recommended I have a look at their new Casual Colour Collection for a cream blush. I'm quite happy using a powder, but I hate it looks really powdery and just sits on the skin. I've never used a cream blush before and I'm so so glad I tried these out.

There are eight of these lip and cheek pots in various, wearable colours which made it quite difficult for me to choose. There are also some nail polishes which come with this collection but I wasn't wowed by any.

I purchased these at a MAC counter for £17.50 each.

So I ended up choosing two, one is Keep It Loose and Weekend Getaway.  The make-up artist tried Weekend Getaway on my cheek using her finger and on the other side using a brush. I preferred the side she used her fingers on, I think the product just went on a lot smoothly than the side using the brush.

Weekend Getaway is a gorgeous rosy pink shade and definitely something I'd pick up every day to use. The second colour, Keep it Loose isn't something I'd normally go for but the colour caught my eye, looks like it would be great for a natural, nude lip.

The annoying thing here is these are limited edition so I don't know if I will be able to find them in the future (sigh). Overall they are gorgeous colours, perfect for on the go make-up and for the summer :)

Tutu

I'm going through a pink lipstick/lipgloss phase! I picked up this Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss in the shade Tutu 1 last week. There's no shimmer particles in there and it has a lilacy undertone, something I would never normally go for.

Rich Color Gloss 7ml £17

I've worn this a few times now and it does not budge! The consistency is quite sticky but I don't mind too much as long as I don't have to keep reapplying every hour. It's super moisturising and feels like a lip balm and lipgloss rolled into one. I've been wearing it alone for a more subtle look, but I also tried a medium pink lipstick underneath and it looks lovely. There's also a menthol smell/taste to this lipgloss, love it!

Wing it

Where would I be without my beloved eyeliner? I love wearing a neat line of black (gel, felt or liquid) eyeliner on my eyelid, I sometimes wing the edge out or just smudge it out with a pencil. The winged bit is hard, I had mastered the technique of even flicked eyeliner a few years ago and now it's gone so I'm back to square one.

So here I've used to the fairly new Loreal Super Liner Gel Intenza Eyeliner, I bought this from Superdrug for £7.99.

I previously had the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner  but accidentally left it without the lid on for ages and now it's rock hard. Anyway there's slight differences in terms of packing and texture, the Loreal Gel Intenza has a gold lid and a black and gold brush. I definitely prefer to this to the Maybelline packaging. The texture is lovely and smooth, just glides on the eyelid! I've used this a few times in the past week and it's growing on me. The brush however, is pants.

I'm sure there is an easier technique to this, but right now here's what I do. I use the Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner, I just use this to line the flick as it's more precise and sharp than the not so great brush you get in the Loreal Gel Intenza Eyeliner kit (note to self, buy decent brushes). I then go over the felt tip eyeliner with the gel eyeliner just to make sure it's dark and there's no patchy bits. I do think with the right brush I can just go with the gel eyeliner and skip the Felt Tip eyeliner stage altogether.

Have you tried the classic Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner, or any other gel eyeliner? What do you think?

Recently, I went into MAC...

I try to be sensible with the products I buy, especially if they are on the pricey side. I recently popped into MAC and whilst I was so so tempted to get a few more things, my bank account will not allow it. Maybe next month?

So I bought a new concealer, the Studio Finish in NC30. I usually wear the Pro Longwear Concealer but that darn pump is the most annoying thing ever. I try to squeeze a teeny tiny amount out and you get a huge blob. I love the texture and finish of the Pro Longwear but the pump just ruins everything. I've used the Studio Finish twice and after reading a few reviews the word 'drying' does pop up quite a lot. It is quite dry, but I finish when I used my finger instead of a brush, it's a lot easier to apply.

I also bought an eyeshadow in the colour Brun. I think I saw this a while ago in one of the Pixiwoo videos, it was used to fill in the brows. Now, I'm big on brows. I love dark, arched, thick eyebrows, the only thing I have is an arch so the rest I have to create. I usually use Benefit's BrowZings in dark but recently I realised that in flash photography it reflects an orangey/red colour which just looks bizarre. So since then, I've been used Brun as a base and then Browzings on top, mainly on the arch and end of my eyebrows.

Last but not least, I bought a highlighter! It's the Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and oh my! It is beautiful. I used to use the Bourjois Illuminating Touch (it's packaged like their blushers and eyeshadows) and it's also amazing but I prefer this one for now. It's super shimmery, I would say it's more gold than bronze and a little goes a long way. I use it on my cheek bones and blend up towards my eyebrow bone. It's also huge, so it'll last for ages.

And that's it for my first post. I'm enjoying this! (It took me ages to take and edit those photos, how does everyone else do it?!)
